Letter from the Editor
Each year at CreativePro Week I like to sample as many sessions as I can. I love watching both old and new friends doing their thing up on stage, and I always come away with a bunch of cool tips to incorporate into my work.
Although I can’t be everywhere at once, I usually do the next best thing: I sit in the back of the room so I can make a quiet exit mid-session and head to the next room. But when I watched Mike Parkinson’s “Pitch Perfect Presentation Design,” I was glued to my seat and stayed to the very end—and beyond. I waited in line to shake his hand and thank him for blowing my mind. I also asked him to share some of his best tips in CreativePro Magazine. And that is exactly what he does in this month’s feature article.
As an added bonus, the Resource of the Month is an exclusive sample from Nolan Haims’s Better Deck Deck, an indispensable aid overflowing with great ideas for designing memorable presentations.
Next, Nigel French teaches you how to see things in a different light (pun intended) in his article on infrared photography.
Maya P. Lim offers an invigorating list of 22 ideas for overcoming burnout and reigniting the creative spark that got you into this line of work.
In the InDesigner, we get a fascinating peek into the world of design at Disney Animation Studios, as Hannah Peterson interviews Tamara Khalaf.
Markzware’s FlightCheck has been a venerable preflighting tool for decades, so it was a bold move by the company to completely revamp the product. Jeff Potter put the new version to the acid test, and you can read his findings in the InReview.
To close things out, we have another batch of content from CreativePro.com, including articles on using the new Intertwine feature in Illustrator, designing a table of contents, and an incredible new plug-in for making animated GIFs.
Enjoy!
