Linotype: The Film hits the small screen

2

Since its premiere in New York in February, Linotype: The Film has been touring the country and abroad with screenings everywhere from Belfast to Brooklyn. The full-length documentary tells the tale of the machine that revolutionized printing and publishing a century ago. Thomas Edison (who had certainly seen more than his share of incredible inventions) called the Linotype machine the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

If you’re a type junkie who wasn’t lucky enough to be able to attend one of the previous screenings, you now have plenty of options to see the film or own it. The newly-released DVD features a limited-edition foil-stamped cover and a 32-page booklet with articles and plenty of vintage advertising images, plus over 70 minutes of bonus features.

If you’d rather skip the physical disc, Linotype: The Film is also available to purchase via iTunes, and to stream via Amazon Instant Video.

The tour also continues with upcoming stops in Ireland, Austin, TX, and St. Louis, MO.
