Interview with Brittney Megann, CEO and Head Socialista
A self-taught CEO shares how she built a marketing business after a life-altering career reset, and how she uses AI as a creative assistant.

Brittney Megann is the CEO of the Toronto-based agency Socials & Stilettos, as well as an educator and speaker who helps creative brands build authentic online presences.
She is speaking at the Design + AI Summit 2026, which takes place online September 17–18, 2026. We thought it would be fun to get to know her better with some Q&A.
You’re new to the CreativePro community. What would you like us to know about you and the path that led you to social media marketing?
One of the biggest things to know about me is that I’m completely self-taught. Before becoming a marketing strategist, creative director, and agency owner, I was a hairstylist. A few years into my styling career, I got into a serious car accident that forced me to hit the hard reset button on my life. I began exploring marketing as a way to earn an income from home at a time when social media was only beginning to be used for business. What began with just me has grown into Socials & Stilettos, a full-service creative marketing agency with a team of eight incredibly talented socialistas.
Your business, Socials & Stilettos, has a strong personality, from the name to the unapologetically pink brand. What is the story behind that identity?
Growing up, I always loved the sound of stilettos walking across a hardwood floor. Years later, when I woke up in the hospital after my car accident, a doctor told me I would probably never be able to work a traditional nine-to-five job again. One of the first things I asked was, “I’m going to be able to wear heels again, right?” That moment became part of the meaning behind Socials & Stilettos. It’s about refusing to let someone else decide how your story will end, taking that power back, and building something meaningful on your own terms, all while doing it in heels.
During my first few years in marketing, I was constantly trying to dim my personality and fit into someone else’s idea of professionalism. When I created the agency’s identity, I decided to go full throttle in the opposite direction. We’ve worked with major brands and Fortune 500 companies, and our personality has never held us back.
In your Design + AI Summit session, you’ll show how AI can support an entire social media pipeline. What do you hope attendees will feel more capable of doing afterward?
I want attendees to leave feeling empowered to use AI without sacrificing their voices, ideas, or creative instincts. AI doesn’t need to replace what you do. It can support and amplify it in a way that still starts and ends with you. It isn’t something that takes creativity out of their hands, but a tool that can simplify their workflow and help them create stronger social media content. I hope they leave knowing how to work more efficiently without losing the qualities that make their work and their voices uniquely theirs.
AI can help people produce more content, but more is not always better. How do you balance efficiency with creating something meaningful and authentic?
I think a lot of people are approaching AI the wrong way when it comes to social media. For me, anything I create with AI still needs to sound like something I would genuinely say on a strategy call with a client. I get my full idea and unique point of view out first, then use AI to polish, organize, or consolidate what I have already said. It isn’t creating the message for me. Everything I create, and everything my team creates, starts and ends with a human. The most helpful way to approach these tools is to think of AI as your creative assistant while you remain the creative director.
Your work is deeply connected to trends, technology, and online culture. What does an ideal offline day look like for you?
This is such a fun question because I’m honestly not very good at being completely offline! Outside of those inevitable creative detours, my ideal day would include hot yoga or a trip to the gym, followed by wandering through the aisles of HomeSense or Winners (HomeGoods and TJ Maxx for my American friends) with a venti cold brew with 5 pumps of sugar-free vanilla in hand! Add in some quality time with my fur babies while watching Legally Blonde, and that’s a pretty perfect day to me.
