David BlatnerKeymasterProbably not the most elegant solution, but: you can find:
^\*(\d+)\*(\d+)\*+?([\w]+?)+?\d{10}(\d)(\d\d\d\d)R
replace with
$1 $2 $3 \$$4.$5April 22, 2020 at 9:50 am in reply to: Change colour of lineart but retain transparent background #1239928
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, if you’re getting the image quality you want/need, then that should be good. Bitmap typically needs to be much higher resolution. Some articles on the topic:

David BlatnerKeymasterGrayscale images are not transparent. You could select the image inside the frame (with direct selection tool) and change the blending mode to Multiply in the Effects panel. Will that work?
David BlatnerKeymasterThe only place I can think of is… maybe ProDesignTools has them? They have a ton of stuff like that.

David BlatnerKeymasterThank you for your kind words, Alexandro.
OK, now I see: You are 100% correct! :-)
This must be a bug. I filed it here (please vote on it):
https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/40221907-font-name-incorrect-when-a-character-style-is-appl
David BlatnerKeymasterI think you are correct, and not correct. :-)
You are correct that applying the character style creates a strange name in the Font field, like “Times New Roman Bold”
That is very strange! I don’t know if it has always been that way, or if that is a new bug.But when I try searching with Find/Change, I can find the font. I’m not sure what the problem there is for you. I suggest checking the Find/Change dialog box very closely; maybe there is some setting that is wrong?
David BlatnerKeymasterI replied in the Private Member forum, too. I do not recommend copy and paste. The best solution is to export as a Word doc from google docs. Or use DocsFlow from em software.
David BlatnerKeymasterGREP searches for specific patterns in text. For example “all the words that start with c and end with t.” You can learn more about the codes here:

David BlatnerKeymasterI am not sure, but I have not heard of ADE for a while. Do many people use it still?
April 14, 2020 at 8:13 am in reply to: Create a paragraph style within a border and with text wrap to flow with content #1238265
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Kryss, glad my work has been helpful for you! Well, there’s probably no good way to “flow” that text in and out of the box in this situation, where the box has text wrap around it. But you could make the text frame (the little one, with the Golden Nugget in it) a single text frame with a stroke, text insets (to push the text away from the stroke on the inside), and Auto-Size (to make it grow or shrink as necessary.
That should make it faster/easier to lay out, though I’m not sure if it’ll fix everything for you.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou could create a character style (I usually call it “disappear”) that sets the punctuation to None color (and maybe make it really small). Then apply that character style using GREP Styles with this:
[[:punct:]]*?$
That will find any punctuation at the end of a paragraph, even if there is a space (or more than one) after it.

David BlatnerKeymasterIt would help if you could post an example image of what it should look like. You can’t upload here, but you can post it in dropbox or Imgur or another file upload site, and then post the link here.
Normally I would just do this with the Paragraph Shading or Paragraph Border feature.
https://indesignsecrets.com/applying-seamless-shading-consecutive-paragraphs.phpAlternatively, you could anchor a text frame inside another frame and use Auto-Size in the Text Frame Options dialog box to let it expand/contract.

David BlatnerKeymasterOH! Sorry, I did not understand. No, I don’t think you can do that. But what you can do is use the Direct Selection tool to drag the end you want to move. That would leave the other end of the line “anchored” in place.
David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t think there’s any way to do this with a text variable. It reminds me a little bit of the Frame Reporter add-on:
https://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/indesign-downloads/framereporter/But I’m not sure why you don’t just put a text frame on each layer, and put the name of the layer inside that text frame.
David BlatnerKeymasterBrett, I see that you also posted this request on a new forum post here: https://indesignsecrets.com/topic/wanted-layer-names-as-variable-text
(No problem; I just wanted to point it out, in case someone in the future finds this thread or that one.) :-)
