    How long is the document?
Have you tried exporting just a portion of the document?
Or do a Save As and delete most of the document and then try exporting again.
Does it work with a fresh new document? (That is, you need to determine whether it is InDesign or this particular file.)

Allen, while you make excellent points, please remember that part of my personal goal in life is to ensure that nothing is too easy for you. I want things to be easy, sure, and fun! But not too easy, because then I would be depriving you of valuable character-building experiences. As my grandmother said to me, “nothing important was ever easy.”

Now, that said, I do agree that our search feature on this site sucks eggs (what the heck does that phrase even mean?!) and I am definitely working with our web developers to make it better. I only ask that you a) have faith; b) keep bugging me from time to time by replying to this thread; c) provide constructive criticism on how we can make it better.

And in your post above, you have done exactly that. I honestly hadn’t even considered the question of finding the “forum profile” features. We definitely should make that easier to get to!

That said, we DO have a forum search feature… it’s just buried in plain view, where no one ever looks: At the top level of the forums. That is, if you click “Forums” in the breadcrumb at the top of the page, or go to https://creativepro.com/forums/ you’ll see a search field. Try typing your name in there!

No, if you see that message and click OK, then you do not need to keep holding down the keys. No need to do it multiple times; if it doesn’t work the first time, it won’t work.

You can try launching the app from a different account (like a guest account) on the same computer to see if that works.

It could be a wide range of things, including what fonts you have installed. (Corrupted fonts have been known to take down the app.)

But I do wonder if you’re going to need to re-install the app. Ouch.

It’s possible that CS3 didn’t have a language folder… I don’t think that’s the issue. When you try rebuilding the preferences with the keyboard shortcut, do you see the alert dialog box that says something like “are you sure you want to rebuilt your preferences?” If you don’t see that, then you’re not doing it right. :-)

Did you upgrade your operating system recently? CS3 is pretty old, and it could break with a new OS.
If it were me, I would probably rebuild my preferences:

OH! I get it now. There is a tab before SF.
Yes, this is totally doable… you need to use a Decimal tab stop and set the Align On field to the asterisk. See this article:

I’m confused, Curtis. If the text is left aligned, then the asterisks would sit to the right of the “SF” like this without any special work or feature. What am I missing?

You may be in Preview mode. Try choosing View > Screen Mode > Normal.
Or try View > Overprint Preview (to turn it off).
