David BlatnerKeymasterAre you seeing the math captcha (3+1 or whatever) when you post a topic or a reply? That was supposed to be removed during beta testing. I don't see it anymore. Does anyone else see it?
(There's no reason for you to prove you're human with the captcha if you're already logged in as a user.)
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, it has always been “first/oldest” topics first in the list. But to tell you the truth, I'm not sure why… I have just reversed the order. Is it “newest first” for you now? Is that better for people?
David BlatnerKeymasterI'm not sure of the details yet. It is certainly mysterious and frustrating. Rufus is an excellent resource (and person!)
David BlatnerKeymasterGood points, Hank. One more important (and not immediately obvious) thing about strokes in tables: You need to select the cells you want to change first (by dragging over them with the Type tool), and then choose the sides of the cells you want to control (change the stroke of) in the Tables panel (or Control panel). Choose sides by clicking on the sides of the icon to turn on/off each segment (or triple-click to turn all on/off).

David BlatnerKeymasterI believe much of this can be handled by the Formatting Tools plug-ins from In-Tools.
There is a simpler (less powerful, but free) script listed here, too.

David BlatnerKeymasterYou can make x-refs in CS3 with the Cross-References plug-in from dtptools.com, and then those x-refs can transfer to CS4 when you upgrade, I believe. Check with them on details.

David BlatnerKeymasterAs I wrote on the blog post, you cannot add Word docs to an InDesign file. You can only import Word docs using File > Place into an InDesign document.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think you need to create and use two different LISTS. One for “shelves” and one for “position,” etc. Each list will increase separately. It is like having 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 3a, and so on. See https://creativepro.com/multi-level-automatic-numbering-in-indesign.php
David BlatnerKeymasterTry clicking No, to clear the Recovery files.
But if that still doesn't work, then, yes, I agree with the part about removing the files from “InDesign Recovery”. Sometimes files get stuck in there for some reason.

David BlatnerKeymasterSorry we didn't reply to the email, Eelco. As you can imagine, we get a huge amount of email. That's one of the reasons we wanted to start the forum! ;)
I think the automatic page number feature should work for you, but you would need to be very careful about the order of objects (the order in which each frame is created), and the styles you apply to Restart Numbering each time, and so on. It is not an easy project. Might be better to create it with a plug-in such as InData from emsoftware.com, which is more powerful than data merge.
David BlatnerKeymasterI'm sorry, but I don't think there is any way to set this up with relative links such as “../images/foo.pdf”. I don't think ID can do that. I didn't know that Acrobat could! Hm.
