David BlatnerKeymasterYou can still have spot colors, even if you are speccing them as CMYK. See: https://creativepro.com/ink-manager-forget-step-exporting-pdf.php
I much prefer placing PDF files (or even AI files) to EPS: https://creativepro.com/tiff-vs-psd-vs-eps-vs-pdf-vs.php
Creating a rasterized PDF makes no sense to me. Why not just export it as a PNG or JPEG? You lose all your vectors, which is bad.
I believe most digital printers do not require flattening. I suggest exporting as a PDF/X-4 file and then printing from Acrobat to your printer.
David BlatnerKeymasterHoly mackerel! I’m glad you’ll be at The InDesign Conference, Ken, because I want to see how you did that. Yes, this works in Safari with no additional extensions… at least most of it did.
The only thing that’s not working is the video on the Raw Power page… oh wait, yes it does… I had to click the incredibly tiny play button in the lower-left corner. You might want to create a play button that covers the whole video, or something like that.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s a cool idea, Ken!
But of course that requires people (the audience) to install the Readium Extension into the Chrome browser. I don’t think it works any other way, right?
David BlatnerKeymasterin5 is certainly the best option for getting HTML5 out of InDesign. I suggest contacting them and seeing if you can get the weirdness resolved. That shouldn’t happen, I think.
David BlatnerKeymasterMost of that could be done in InDesign and exported to Publish Online or Fixed Layout EPUB. You could also use in5 from ajarproduction.com to export as HTML and put on a web site. Some stuff would be clunkier… the only thing I can’t see how to do immediately is scrolling the screenshot up and down, though it’s probably possible.
It’s certainly not what InDesign was made for, but it could probably work. :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterHoo Yee: That is bad! :-(
Have you tried resetting your preferences? There are some troubleshooting instructions here:
https://creativepro.com/resources/faq#143If it continues to crash on launching, you may need to uninstall and re-install the software. That is rare, but it sometimes happens.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt sounds like maybe you’re applying the master page to both pages of the spread instead of just the right-hand page?
David BlatnerKeymasterTyping
10,11,18,19doesn’t work? What do you get?
David BlatnerKeymasterCongratulations, David! I’m so glad to hear it.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt may be that you want an inline frame rather than an anchored frame.
Some old but relevant info here:
https://creativepro.com/make-an-image-flow-with-the-text.php
Anchored frames can go outside the text frame; inline frames are often on their own paragraph and flow with the text.
I talk about that in this Lynda.com movie: https://www.lynda.com/InDesign-tutorials/Using-anchored-objects/368575/413033-4.html
David BlatnerKeymasterAnd, dang it, Matt, are we going to see you at The InDesign Conference this year? It’s been too long. PLUS: I just found out that Martinho Da Gloria (maker of Multi-Find) will likely be there, so you can complain to him in person about it. That alone should be worth it. :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterYou sure there’s no character style sitting on top of the paragraph style?
Also, try restarting or at least relaunching. Worst case, rebuild prefs.
I have seen weird stuff happen over the years to find/change, just gunky memory stuff.September 22, 2016 at 9:46 am in reply to: Assign data merge tag automatically using a script #88611
David BlatnerKeymasterYou might also ensure that the script does work on a simple merge tag in a new document. For example just try “name” and see if that works. I’ve never seen such crazy data merge field names! :-)
