David BlatnerKeymasterSorry, Justin. Not sure why that got caught up. I’ve published it now.

David BlatnerKeymasterHere’s how to install scripts you found in a forum: https://creativepro.com/how-to-install-a-script-in-indesign-that-you-found-in-a-forum-or-blog-post.php
David BlatnerKeymasterOK, so this is coming 6.5 years late, but here you go: https://creativepro.com/insert-a-character-by-unicode-or-gid.php
David BlatnerKeymasterIf you need to do a lot of barcodes in InDesign, I would recommend Barcode Maker from Teacup Software: https://www.teacupsoftware.com/product/barcodemaker/
It’s an InDesign plug-in, so it is tightly integrated with InDesign.
(full disclosure: I helped design this plug-in based on my InDesign experience, so I get a teensy percentage of sales)
David BlatnerKeymasterAnother idea is to create frames that are anchored to each other (or anchored inside another frame).
I talk about something similar here:
https://creativepro.com/creating-dynamic-layouts-objects-move-text-added.php
with a movie here:

David BlatnerKeymasterMorteza, here’s one solution:
oops… I mean: https://creativepro.com/making-line-left-side-paragraph.php
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can make several InDesign documents and then place the INDD file into a master INDD file. When you place an INDD file into another INDD file, it is imported like a graphic.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt’s a fascinating idea, though it’s really not what InDesign is designed to do. You’d need to make a custom script for this. Are you a scripter? Or are you looking to hire one?
David BlatnerKeymasterI just created a very simple 1-row table in Excel (Mac 2011), saved as xlsx and imported it. In one of the cells, I had some text underline and some with strikeout. It imported into InDesign with the formatting intact.
Try making a duplicate of your file, then deleting all but one or two rows to see if it works. My guess is that something is interfering with the formatting. For example, perhaps a character style is being applied to the text?
David BlatnerKeymasterNick, here is an article about how to install scripts that Kai and others have left in forum or blog posts:
https://creativepro.com/how-to-install-a-script-in-indesign-that-you-found-in-a-forum-or-blog-post.php
David BlatnerKeymasterKai: Got it! Interesting technique… the header and footer rows “erase” the stroke at the top and bottom of each column/page. Clever!
David BlatnerKeymasterI wrote up the Table Strokes article here:
https://creativepro.com/how-to-set-column-and-row-strokes-in-table-styles.phpKai, is that the correct URL for the new IDML file? I downloaded your zip file, but it appears to be the same file I created (I see only one table).
David BlatnerKeymasterNever seen anything like that!
