    Hi Jason,

For your first question, I'm afraid you can't do what you want, just take a look at this post here: https://creativepro.com/forum/general-indesign-topics/non-english-numbering-lists (the answer from Jongware, saying:

Unfortunately, you cannot make custom numbered lists with InDesign. You can change a bullet to some custom text, but only for one item at a time. So it would seem you have to do it the hard way.

For the second one, I suppose cross-references is what you need (Windows menu/ Interactive/ Hyperlinks and set your cross-references at will, in the Hyperlinks and cross-references panel).

    Hi,

I if I understood you correctly, then you'll need to apply the alternating fill in the first place and merge the cells afterwards.

Take a look at BookBarcode from https://indiscripts.com/ There is a free version I use myself, maybe it will suit you too.

    Hi Erika,

    Here is your GREP:

    Find what: (_)(w+)(_)

    Change to: $2

Change format: +italic (click on the looking glass button, go to Basic styles and select “italic” from the “Font style” drop-down).

To apply it, click “Change All”, after selecting your scope in the “Search” drop-down.

Inspiration from: https://help.adobe.com/en_US/in…..DC9Fa.html (Example 1: Finding text within quotation marks)

    Good luck.

    Hi there,

Using shared destinations is quite straightforward, I don't understand where your problem resides, but here is how I did it (and it works):

I created a 3 pages test document and a character style called “Hyperlink” (optional). On the first page I inserted a text box with the text “Click here”, selected the word “here” and from the “Type” menu I chose “Hyperlink & Cross-References”/ “New hyperlink”. In the dialog box I set:

On the second page I inserted a text box, containing the text “Click here”, selected the word “here” and from the “Type” menu I chose “Hyperlink & Cross-References”/ “New hyperlink”. In the dialog box I set:

    • Link to: Shared destination
    • Destination: I selected my shared destination created above
    • Style: Hyperlink & checked (optional)

    Same thing for page 3.

I saved the document and exported it to PDF, making sure that “Include Hyperlinks” is checked on the export dialog box.

    Voilà!

    Hope that helps.

Mr. Screens, thank you indeed for your advice. As a matter of fact, I have already finished my book but I all went perfectly.

I prepared the cover exactly as you said, i.e. asked the printer for the dimension of the spine and included it in the single page document “Cover.PDF” consisting of: front cover + spine + back cover, with the appropriate bleed margin on the contour.

The inside consisted in facing-pages documents (one per chapter), exported as single pages “Content.PDF”.

And I left the inside covers blank for this one, but I noted the possibility of printing on the inside of the covers, I'll certainly use it when I'll need it.

    Thank you again.

    Hello CoreenM,

Thank you very much for your detailed answer.

The second question was about the content (ads for instance) that must appear on the inside of the front cover and on the inside of the back cover.

From your answer I understand that my “Cover.PDF” file must include:

    a) one page for the front cover+spine+back cover assembled together, no bleed margins between them

    b) one page for the content to be printed on the inside of the front cover

    c) one page for the content to be printed on the inside of the back cover

And the “Content.PDF” file will consist of single pages – only the content of the book.

I also understand that there is no need for an inside bleed margin for the facing pages of the content document, but only for a reasonably wide inside margin, allowing the binding and facilitating the book manipulation.

    Thank you.

Here you can find screenshots of the creating TOC process in ID CS5 – it works as expected, as at the end I got the TOC I wanted.

Try to use a master page, with the three text boxes placed where needed and their styles applied. Then create the new document pages based ont that master page and that should be all.
