Teacup Software Releases Free Update to BarcodeMaker Plug-in

Teacup Software’s popular BarcodeMaker plug-in is now available with multiple new features, including special enhancements for book and magazine publishers. From dual numbering support for ISBNs 10 and 13 to the newly added ISSN barcode, BarcodeMaker offers greater flexibility and broader options for anyone working with barcodes. The plug-in still retains all of its original features that allows users to create fully customizable barcodes directly in InDesign, add numbers, change fonts and font size, control barcode height, and include or exclude checksum digits. BarcodeMaker is fully compatible with Adobe InDesign CS and CS-2, and works in conjunction with Teacup’s PatternMaker, a free plug-in with powerful design capabilities.
BarcodeMaker’s updated features include:

  • Dual numbering support for ISBN 13 barcodes. The human-readable ISBN-10 digits will appear directly above the ISBN-13 digits, allowing for a smooth transition to the ISBN-13 standard.
  • ISBN and UPC barcodes can now be marked as “strippable” or “non-strippable” to help expedite the processing of stripped cover returns in the trade paperback industry.
  • For book publishers, adding a price to a barcode is simple. BarcodeMaker can now append two or five digit suffixes to both ISBN and UPC barcodes. Two digit suffixes are also supported for ISBN and ISSN barcodes.
  • The ability to add “EAN” or “UPC” in front of ISBN or UPC barcodes for easy identification.
  • For EAN barcode users, a whitespace or a “quiet zone” which is identified by a “>” symbol can be inserted to the right of the barcode for optimal scanning recognition.
  • Two new barcode options are available with BarcodeMaker, ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), an eight-digit number to identify periodical publications including electronic serials, and ITF-14, most often seen in the shipping industry.
    Barcode patterns included with BarcodeMaker are: Barcode 39, 93, 2 of 5, 128 and UCC/EAN-128, EAN-13, EAN-2, EAN-5, EAN-8, ISBN, Interleaved 2 of 5 and ITF-14, FIM, KIX, MSI, Plessey, Postnet, Rationalized Codabar, RoyalMail, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISSN and ITF-14.
    Availability and Requirements:
BarcodeMaker retails for $149 and is available for download and purchase from Teacup’s website, https://www.teacupsoftware.com. Existing BarcodeMaker users can download the update for free. PatternMaker, a free plug-in, must also be downloaded from the Teacup website. BarcodeMaker works with InDesign CS and InDesign CS-2 on Macintosh OS X and Windows 2000 and above.
