When you need to emphasize a specific piece of text, what kind of formatting do you choose? Do you try to stay classy, and use italics? Do you get really bossy and use bold? Or do you really TURN UP THE VOLUME WITH ALL CAPS?
Yes, if it wasn’t for all caps, how would we shout in print? But all caps have legitimate layout uses too; they’re not just for texting tweens, commenting trolls, and your Uncle Dave whose caps lock key got stuck down in ’96 and has been there ever since.
