Thanks so much for the handy tip on using the Level for numbering chapters. I will be using this on a current project for both Parts and Chapters.
However, is there a way to run a number series without it being tied to the Bullets & Numbering of a paragraph style? E.g. the flexibility doesn’t exist to apply different styles to the lead-in word “Chapter” and the chapter number itself. This would be possible if there was a way to drop the level number into an arbitrary location in the paragraph. I’ve looked for ways to do this with Text Variables, but it just doesn’t seem possible.

Hi Brad, you’re right, you can only apply one character style to the entire word and the number, so Chapter 1 will all look the same. I too wish there was more flexibility!
