Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 3200C
Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 3200C
In the product description of the Scanjet 3200 at the HP website, your humble author found 9 mentions or synonyms for the word “easy”. Gee, I wonder if this is a difficult scanner to use? Developed for home or home office use, the 3200C claims to scan in four easy steps (another repeated phrase). Despite the advertised childish ease of the unit though, it still doesn’t sacrifice power to get its way. The 3200C features a single-pass CCD sensor with 30-bit color support and an optical resolution of 600 dpi (9,600 dpi with software interpolation) to scan documents of up to 11.7×8.5 inches. Although not as fast or as optically powerful as some of the HP office or professional scanners, the inexpensive price and general simplicity make the 3200C a good buy.
ZDNet’s Computer Shopper reviewed the 3200C in April 1999, giving it an overall positive spin. While the review acknowledges some of the power and image quality deficiencies, these probably wouldn’t affect the home user significantly.
