Extensis Portfolio 5.0

Extensis Portfolio is an award-winning asset management program allowing for the organization, viewing, and sharing of digital content among a group of users across networks and platforms. Users can distribute many of the most popular file formats including images, sounds, movies and graphical documents to other group members, or to clients and customers. Included in the package is the free Portfolio browser, which enables a client or customer to view a catalogue without the need of the Portfolio program itself on their machine. Views can be customized, slideshows can be created and keywords and custom fields can be assigned in order to carry out complex searches as narrowly or as broadly as is needed. Also available is both the Portfolio Server – the asset management solution for larger work groups which allows connectivity with existing SQL database systems and is fully scriptable using either AppleScript or Visual Basic – and PortWeb, which allows businesses the ability to create an intranet, extranet or Internet site to share assets among users. The latest version, Portfolio 5.0, will be available in April 2000.
A couple of useful reviews are available outlining many of the features of Portfolio. Check out: Marty Beaudet from Publish Magazine here; and Vikki Dawson’s review at The Internet Eye magazine.
Extensis also hosts the Portfolio Forum where users can ask questions and share information with one another.
