E-Book Systems Launches FlipViewer Xpress 1.0 Digital Publication Reader

E-Book Systems, Inc., creators of the patented Digital Flip® online publishing technology, announces today the release of its new FlipViewer® Xpress 1.0 digital publication reader. FlipViewer® Xpress 1.0 allows users to view publications, such as magazines, books, newspapers, catalogs and manuals, within a digital 3-D page-flipping format called a FlipBook.
As an ideal way for reading a publication online, FlipViewer® Xpress 1.0 features an intuitive page-flipping interface that lets readers “turn” pages, rapidly skim content and go directly to a certain page number — just like reading or browsing through a printed publication. While users are reading the current page, the next few pages are streaming into the PC, so every page is only a click away. Readers can immediately visit the publishers’ or advertisers’ Web sites by clicking on links on pages and advertisements inside the digital publication.
The latest version of FlipViewer® Xpress has the ability to incorporate a combination of text, images, animation, sound and video into a single media-rich document. Offering Flash object support, FlipViewer® Xpress 1.0 allows the publisher to embed Flash interactive movies or animated advertisements in the FlipBook. This version is also equipped with DRM license management which controls a series of user permissions, zooming and even data encryption to prevent data theft.
Additionally, FlipViewer® Xpress 1.0 allows the user to share any digital publication they are reading with a friend via email. The recipients can simply read the digital publication via their standard browsers without installing any software.
“E-Book Systems’ continuing improvements to FlipViewer® allow consumers to take advantage of the latest enhancements in online publishing technology,” said E-Book Systems President Seng Beng Ho. “We are constantly updating our technology to best serve our customers.”
E-Book Systems has publishing tools available for companies who want to convert printed publications into its digital 3-D page-flipping format. The company also offers in-house conversion services. E-Book Systems’ customers include Pearson Scott Foresman, Softbank Japan, FHM Germany, CNET China, M2Media 360 and Max Capital Group Ltd.
