Build HTML 5 Animations on the Mac
A company called Tumult has released a new app, Hype, which you can use to create animations for the Web and smart phones. One benefit of these animations is that they don’t require Flash (a program shunned by Apple’s iPad and iPod); instead, the animations are powered by HTML5.
That benefit is also Hype’s downfall, since many Web browsers don’t support HTML5. (Tumult does say that when a browser doesn’t support its cutting-edge code, Hype output automatically degrades to Javascript animations.) However, HTML5 is the language of the Web’s future, and at just $29.99, Mac users won’t be out much money if they give Hype a try.
To create animations in Hype, you’ll use keyframe, timelines, a WYSIWYG scene editor. You can also grub around in the HTML when you want to or need to.
