Alamy Launches New Site
James West, CEO of Alamy, said, “The new site is the first of a series of steps planned to make Alamy the fastest, most comprehensive, and most accurate search engine for professional imagery in the world.”
Already well known for range and speed, Alamy is upgrading the website by improving the layout of key information and introducing ‘search within results’, ‘more like this’, and ‘one-click zoom’, making it faster and simpler to find the required image. However, this is only the start of the speed up Alamy is aiming for. Several projects are under development for release later in the year that will bring further improvements to the speed and relevancy of the search engine. Alamy’s image collection has doubled in size since March 2004. The increase takes the total collection to 2.3 million images from 260 agencies and 3,800 photographers. More contributors will be announced in the near future.
In response to the needs of its customers and contributors, Alamy is rapidly developing in size and efficiency with an improved site and an increasing collection of images.
