Adobe Muse Now Available

1

Last week I wrote about two upcoming products that can be downloaded from Adobe Labs — Muse and Edge.

While Edge is still very much in development, Muse is now available for purchase.

Muse is a Website-creation tool with a WYSIWYG interface and the process used is much like Adobe InDesign.

It has familiar elements like master pages and style sheets, and uses the same tools and metaphors as a print application. You structure a site much like adding pages to print layout.

Visual feedback is always available so you can see what you have created and what you want to do next.

Best of all, Muse generates HTML5 code, which means your website is current with today’s Web standards — and you don’t need to know a lick of code.

Muse is available through Adobe’s Creative Cloud service. You can subscribe to it one of three ways:

  1. $14.99 per month with a one-year commitment;
  2. $24.99 per month under a pay-as-you-go plan;
  3. $49.99 per month as part of one-year Creative Cloud commitment that gives you access to other tools in CS6.

If you are an existing Creative Suite customer, you can subscribe to the Creative Cloud for $29.99 per month with a one-year commitment. Note that this offer expires August 31, 2012.

If you like what you’ve seen in the beta, all you need to do to upgrade to the released version is to click on the “Install now” button in the welcome screen.

If you have been using the beta version of Muse (and you don’t plan to upgrade), note that the beta will expire on June 15, 2012, and the beta version will no longer work.

    Muse generates HTML5 code. Lots and lots and lots and lots of it. So much in fact I pity anyone that has to tweak anything at the code level. Use at your own peril.
