The Missing Link
For creative teams wrangling massive files, LucidLink transforms remote collaboration by treating cloud storage like a local hard drive. Instead of waiting for large files to download, the platform streams data on demand. This allows multiple designers and editors to work synchronously on shared assets from anywhere in the world, dramatically reducing bottlenecks.
A Bokeh of Fresh Air
Understanding depth of field is crucial for anyone planning photo shoots or creating complex digital composites. The free web-based DOF Simulator demonstrates how camera sensor size, lens focal length, and aperture affect background blur. By adjusting sliders for distance and framing, you can preview the resulting optical effect.
Prompt and Circumstance
Remembering the exact phrasing that yielded the perfect AI-generated image can be a frustrating challenge. Prompt Vault is a free Photoshop plug-in from Jesús Ramirez’s Photoshop Training Channel that neatly organizes your prompts right inside the application. The tool allows you to save, tag, color code, and search your entire prompt library, eliminating the need to toggle between external notes apps and your Photoshop workspace.
Express Delivery
Adobe Express can be useful for quick iterations, but transitioning those designs back into a professional production environment is difficult. Amybeth Menendez’s new Export to IDML add-on bridges this frustrating gap perfectly. The tool allows you to export Express projects as packaged IDML files, complete with all linked images. This enables seamless integration back into InDesign for final adjustments and output. The first 50 people to use the code CP50OFF can get 50% off the regular price.
Panel Discussion
Could an InDesign killer actually run in your web browser? Check out FontPanel and decide for yourself (and let us know). This desktop-class page layout app runs in Chrome or Edge yet keeps your documents local by default. Built for real print work, it offers PDF/X-4 export, CMYK output, preflight checks, a Font Vault preloaded with 133 Google Fonts families, and e-magazine publishing. It is free throughout the beta, currently slated to run through June 2027.
Values Added
Guiding Principles for Inclusive Design Values, out this August from Rockport Publishers, offers a practical framework for weaving equity and justice into creative work. Structured around the six commitments of AIGA’s Value Design Education Pledge, namely anti-racism, historical awareness, knowledge sharing, impact, community, and well-being, the book gathers case studies and prompts from designers and educators.
Oh My Graphics
Vector graphics exported from design software are often bloated with redundant code, hidden layers, and unnecessary metadata that slow down web performance. SVGOMG is a free, browser-based graphical interface for the popular SVGO optimization tool. By toggling a few switches, you can strip out excess data to reduce file sizes while visually verifying that your illustrations remain intact.
