This Week in InDesign Articles, Number 119
The full moon has me howling… about InDesign! And even an eclipse can’t stop you from reading these articles and watching these videos:
- The InDesign CC Recertification exam is now live
- Watch Terry White’s video 5 Hidden Gems in Adobe InDesign CC
- Can you convert a PDF to an editable InDesign file? Sure! But you will almost always need to do clean-up afterward. The longer the PDF, the more clean-up! If you have a whole book, that clean-up may or may not be worth it. Check out these two reviews from The Book Designer of Recosoft’s PDF2ID and also Markzware’s PDF2DTP.
- DPS users: here’s a cool video by Bart Van de Wiele on building an animation of increasing numbers. I love his unexpected use of the “current page number” variable.
- Want to learn more about DPS? If you’re in Seattle, San Francisco, DC, or New York, consider signing up for a one-day free training by Adobe
- Speaking of DPS… this was fascinating to me: Adobe DPS is dropping support for Kindle Fire! I guess there just wasn’t enough interest?
- I love this short article: A Plea to Book Designers: InDesign Is Not a Linotype Machine
- Okay, this is an Acrobat lesson, not InDesign, but it’s a good one: How to convert PDF files to grayscale
- Are you interested in Digital and Variable Data Printing? Watch Claudia’s new movie about it at lynda.com!
- You know about EPUB and DPS… but do you know about OpenEFT? You probably should.
- Building Better Workflows: A Seybold Report Conference is coming up in Philadelphia, May 22
- Okay, this is too cute: Dot’s Dictionary teaches common graphic design terms, such as baseline, serif, and orphan.
- This is important: How to Choose the Right Image File Format for Print
Enjoy!
