Look, I love my kids, but I have to admit that I’m really looking forward to next week when they go back to school and we regain some normal sense of schedule and routine around here! Maybe then I’ll have a moment to sit and read up on all the cool InDesign stuff that’s going on out there. If you’re looking for some InDesign reading (and watching), then check these out:
- My favorite article of the week is Kelly Vaughn’s Have You Hugged your Developer Today?
- Now that InDesign CC 9.1 is out, Justin at AJAR has updated the in5 HTML5 export plug-in to work with it!
- Since we’re talking about Justin: He also wrote a free script that people creating interactive documents may find really helpful! It assigns URLs to buttons based on a CSV or table!
- Smashing Magazine ran a nice article about Useful InDesign Scripts and Plug-ins. (Several of those link back to us here at InDesignSecrets.)
- Do you use Scrivener? There’s no InDesign import filter for it, but look at this: Scrindesign, a script that lets you import Scrivener documents and format them!
- You want to export EPUB from InDesign, but you want to use your own CSS instead of the CSS file that InDesign creates? Justin Seeley shows us the basics!
- When you think about typography, you can focus on the little black marks on the white paper, or you can focus on the whitespace and invisible characters between those marks.
- GREP is incredibly powerful, but if you’re not used to it, it can seem really icky. James Fritz wrote a nice little intro to grep here.
- People have asked for a way to auto-update or auto-synchronize placed content for years. Rorohiko helps with APID and the free PlaceAutoSynchronizer plug-in. Want to see how it works? Here’s a video.
