MemberRight, the cell wouldn’t work for this project.
To me it seems so intuitive that people would want this option!
Any other creative solutions aside from moving each text box with a shaded box down so the color starts in the right place – something I really don’t want to do!Rivkah Lewis
MemberBut that would only work when its the only thing on the page. Not if it comes after a different style.

Member@Petar Sorry I should have specified – left and right are fine.
I mean the top and bottom.@Steve Davis – what’s the easiest way of sharing a screenshot here?

MemberThe issue is mostly cleared up since I changed the setting, so there isn’t much to screenshot.

MemberOf the legacy text shaping setting?

MemberHebrew doesn’t show up normally…

MemberThanks for taking the time to reply – although the replies were not all that encouraging :)
I forgot to mention the doc was dual language (in addition to the 2 column, images with wraps, etc.)On the advice of a colleague, I turned on legacy text shaping and that made a huge difference.

MemberI could (although maybe it would crash on me…)
But that doesn’t saolve the footnote issues and there is obviously something wrong with the file which I would like to get to the bottom of.
He’s also going to want to put out a pocket size of this book and I don’t knwo if it’ll be more or a diff designer, but at this point, the file is just too quirky. It was a complicated book to begin with and would be a huge shame and financial loss for someone to have to start from scratch.

MemberI came across some of Peter’s scripts in searches, but they did work for me.
Somehow, I didn’t find this one. (Maybe I wasn’t searching for the right terms.)In the meantime, I did manual fixing to get this book finished.
Thanks – I’ll bookmark this for some other time.

MemberThe book is done and ready to go in InDesign.
I am just stuck on this point now of having missed a chapter renumbering.Rivkah Lewis
MemberI’m wondering now, 8 years later, if anything has changed. Is there an easy way to do this?

MemberThanks for the link David.
The previous paragraph got complicated, but I read through the comments on that post and the solution for me seems to be to add a drop cap to the par style with the number of lines the icon is tall. I am making the dropcap 2 charachters and adding a space after the icon rather than using a text wrap.
I’d still love to know what the problem was! But at least this solution seems to be working.
Thanks!!

MemberAnyone…? The book needs to go to print and I am really stuck!
Alternatively, if you have an easy work around, please advise!

MemberThis book has a ton of styles, but if I understood your question correctly, there are instances where the style works fine and instances it doesn’t.
No nested style, GREP style or override. Here you can see that each instance is doing something else:

MemberThanks David. Very informative.
I can’t see manually doing this for over 600 endnotes, though.
So if you do have a script you can dig up, I would be happy to test it. -
