MemberDavid,
you suggest «Much better to have all the documents together in one huge document if you need that kind of thing.» But that would make the Book-function kind of obsolete, wouldn’t it? And there just ARE documents that you cannot combine e.g. they are from different sources, have experienced individual/cosmetic changes to paragraph-styles – albeit being named the same – which would result in complete chaos trying to merge that into one style, I fear.

MemberThanks a lot, Anne-Marie and Michael, for providing the script. I was the original instigator of the above question. And have had to come back three years later now.
Great community!

MemberThank you for all these hearty wishes – uttered two years ago seen from now – and hopefully fulfilled one day. On the hand Adobe gives the users more mean and possibilities but also keeps creating new snags and shortcomings at the same time, hobbling new features or putting proprietary restrictions on the output, like Adobe Developper or Cloud accounts. There should definitively be more players in this game. I look for a format to create – like dhrose – presentations, possibly from within InDesign, that play/run on more devices and will have a longer shelf-life…

MemberThank you, David,
I’ll have to try the script then. I have already tried the other method you suggest but somehow the transfer didn’t always take place as usual. And I still have to open each individual file and then click through all the messages (since I open them on the Mac for the first time). So that really only saves me just a little time…

MemberThanks for your encouragement, Dwayne, I hope someone will jump in! Regarding your own gripe with those guides: several remedies exist to my knowledge. If you don’t need the «smart guide» feature try unchecking that (in menu «view –> grid&guides –>smart guides or command + U). Sorry if the naming is not quite correct, I use a german language version of ID CS6 for Mac.
What I like much better is to place a guide by numerals: put one on the spreadsheet and while it’s still active (or click it if it’s not) go to very left of the menu bar and enter the desired values there. you can place/move/multiply guides like any other object, e.g. by using menu «object –> transform». Or you might just hold down the control key (Mac) simultaneously while you place the guide, this temporarily disables the smart-guide feature. Click the object first, then click control or else the dropdown menu will pop up.
Good luck!

MemberHello, Masood,
I only now had the opportunity to check all of your fine hints. Some work, some don’t, e.g. «\d(?=(\d\d\d)+\D)» only finds the first digit in at least 4 figures comprising group. Using «(\d\d\d)(?=\d)» works fine and I’d like to add the condition that the group of figures that should be search for groups of three digits should comprise at least 5 digits.
Would you perchance have another hint there, too?
Thanks anyway and to all!

MemberThanks for the hint, Justin. I finally got to try it out and it works fine, even when I have to apply twice or more to space to all three-figure combos.

MemberThank you very much, Justin,
for your high profile answer. I’m not working on the project right now but I will try that solution for sure!
Thanks again.
