MemberRomanuV was close, why not turn the layers you dont want checked to off then sellect all and tell indesign to check stories only.

MemberEven if you just output to pdf and leave it like that, if you have Acrobat Pro it has a sort of ocr built into it but a better one is ABBYY Finereader, once your used that you will not look back

MemberOnce you have printed the document once indesign remembers those settings for that document at least in CS4 dont know for later versions

MemberProblem Solved!
It all came down to Ownership not shareing or perrmissions.
For anyone that might need to know:
in the get info dialog select the “Ignore ownership on this volume”

MemberSorry David,
When I place the pdf's on to indesign pages and use indesigns separation preview the black is correct.
These pdf's come from a customer to be printed at our shop.
Eugene: These files are not made locally in indesign all I receive is PDF's
So maybe to explain just a little better

Customer sends us PDF's of their publication (pretty sure they did it in indesign), when i do a preflight in acrobat some of the black text appears to have 4 colour mix. Place those same pdf's into indesign and do a separation preview and the black text is not 4 colour but correct at Black.
The PDF's are not low res the photo's in them are cmyk and of high quality.
Thank you both
Kevin

MemberFontExplorer XPro.
I highly recommend this program to anyone that wants there fonts organised. Especially people still using CS – CS4 as it has a built in Auto Activate feature that works a treat. No making sets for different customers just open the indesign or whatever file and the fonts are activated for you.
This program has me forgetting about fonts mostly it just runs so smoothly in the background.

MemberI don't think you use right indent, you use tab's and place an “.” in the “leader” box.
Highlight text Press Shift command T to bring up tabs
If you put a tab past the right margin and put a . in the leader box then press Shift Tab the leader will extend the maximum line lenght.

MemberOh dear silly me! This is a much better way to do it!
Go to File>Print Presets>Define
Have the [Default] selected and click on edit
make your changes and click ok
Then ok again and there you have it your default is now set to the way you want it.

MemberThank you everyone for in input.
Tournier: script is alright if you just want the text to be in word, it does that pretty good.
was hoping to keep some of the layout but as I have no idea about word I am not sure that this is even possible. ie keep the lines of the form and the text in the right location.
Tim: Will look into Recosoft and see what its all about.

MemberMake all your setting in print dialog and then save preset then use that setup each time

MemberNo, if no artwork is close to the edge you will not need bleed
Normal bleed is between 3mm to 5mm
Only reason maybe is if you wish to draw your own crop marks and colour bars if needed then.

MemberNo don't have that option… but what is stopping you from having a layer called Page2 or what have you. would make the layers pallet busy but your could work it that way, sort of.
