I don’t know for sure, but maybe the SmartConnection plugin from Woodwing?

Yeah… ouch! My first thought would be to look through some of Peter K’s scripts to see if anything might help: https://creativepro.com/files/kahrel/indesign/footnotes.html

Yes, you should be able to create a character style in Word that maps to a character style in InDesign.

I don’t think that would be possible in InDesign by itself.

Unfortunately, there is often no way to make line breaks the same from one version of InDesign to the next (if the text reflows).

It’s usually not a big change, but there are often tiny changes from one version to the next that cause reflow. InDesign has a clever feature that freezes the text reflow as long as you do not edit the story. But as soon as you make an edit, or you press the secret shortcut to reflow all the text (command-option-slash, if I recall), the text reflows with the newest “rules.”

If you use the Single Line Composer instead of the Paragraph Composer, it can sometimes help, but if the original document used the Paragraph Composer (which it probably did), then that doesn’t necessarily help. More info here:

WOW! Thank you for sharing that, Linda. Great use of Preflight.

Sounds like you have a terrific workflow. Great job! So it sounds like you’re saying that when you do the Find/Change it is finding text that is not italic. That is mysterious. I wonder if there is something about that font that is causing this. Also, have you tried doing a Save As in Word? I find that sometimes I need to do a Save As in Word, and if it’s a .doc file, I save as .docx (or vice versa).

If you place your cursor in the italic text, is there a + symbol in the Paragraph Styles panel, next to the style name?
If you look in the Character Styles panel, is any character style applied to the text?

I’m not sure who removed that ,but the Facebook group has several different moderators who try to apply the rules. Posting videos as primary topics is usually not allowed. (Posting as replies is usually handled better, I think?) I added the video as a comment to Anne-Marie’s tribute post. Thank you, Michel.
