David BlatnerKeymasterYou mean this one? https://www.impositionsoftware.com/
It looks like it's been updated for CS5, which would indicate that they're alive. But I haven't heard from them in a while.
David BlatnerKeymasterData Merge was definitely in CS3, but I honestly don't remember what submenu its in… keep looking in the Window menu!
David BlatnerKeymaster@heyjodi: You might consider using InDesign's Data Merge feature, which doesn't require any scripting. We have a lot of posts about data merge on our site, including: https://creativepro.com/aut…..ndling.php
David BlatnerKeymasterI agree that gradients can be confusing. Here's one option: https://creativepro.com/the…..a-drag.php

David BlatnerKeymasterNo, I don't think there's any way to have it playing as the page is turning… at least, not out of InDesign.
David BlatnerKeymasterThanks Gobit for the interesting question, and thank you Lynn (who I've actually known in real life since the good ol' days, when “xpresso” meant something from Denver!). Of course, there are many other data publishing solutions out there, too. We talked a bit about that topic in podcast 145: https://creativepro.com/ind…..st-145.php
David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you import the file, can you turn on Import Options (in the Place dialog box) and change the number of decimal places?
Or are you importing with Data Merge?
May 13, 2011 at 9:53 am in reply to: Possible to set text color to change depending on background color automatically? #59594
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, there is no “automatic” way to do it. What I want even more than that is a way to have text change even in the middle automatically… you know, like if the text is half over white and half over a dark color? You can fake it in various ways, but there is no good solution. (Well, at least none that print well.)
David BlatnerKeymasterI would not drag pages into a new document; weird things can happen. Instead, I would delete pages 30-170 and then do a File > Save a Copy, then File > Revert (or perhaps even just Undo). Then delete 1-29 and 50-170 and save a copy, repeat, etc.
(You want to make sure you do a save as or save a copy after deleting in order to clean up the extra stuff, so it doesn't get stuck in the file, as per the Lose 20 Pounds in InDesign article Mike Rankin and I did for indesign magazine.)
David BlatnerKeymasterRecosoft just tweeted: “We're going to be releasing a PDF2ID v3.0.1 update that brings compatibility with ID CS5.5 in a few weeks.”
David BlatnerKeymasterI have heard that Teacup's plug-ins are not compatible yet, but will be very soon. Virginia Systems says their plug-ins should work fine with 5.5. And DTPtools (makers of Blatner Tools, blatnertools.com) say their plug-ins should work fine with 5.5.

David BlatnerKeymasterWell, something needs to tell it to play. It sounds as though you have not set it up with a proper Poster image in the Media panel. You can also use the media panel to “play on page turn” if you want it to start playing immediately.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat's a great question! Actually, no, I don't know about compatibility. Let's see if we can get some folks to chime in on that.
David BlatnerKeymasterI don't know why this might be happening, but perhaps it is due to Keep Options. Sometimes if a lot of paragraphs are “kept together” then they'll skip a frame. When you make the frame bigger, the text can fit. Possible? Hard to know.
May 9, 2011 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Exporting multiple PDF with different max ink density form one InDesign file #59551
David BlatnerKeymasterYou would need different ICC profiles (one for each different CMYK ink max) and you would need to use RGB images. When you export the PDF, you would choose the ICC profile that you are targeting, and all the images would be converted to CMYK with that ink max.
