David BlatnerKeymasterCheck out the posts labeled “Why Are There White Boxes Around My Drop Shadows and Other Transparency Effects? (and the follow-up: The Yucky Discolored Box Syndrome)” on this page:
David BlatnerKeymasterThat's pretty strange. You might try importing into a fresh new document. If that doesn't work, you might try resaving the text file as RTF or docx or something different.
David BlatnerKeymasterI suggest searching this site:
https://creativepro.com/ali…..ign-on.php
or
https://creativepro.com/tab…..tables.php
or
https://creativepro.com/tab…..tricks.php
And here's something on creating equal space between items (without using tabs):
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, cannot be done with text variables. Sorry!
David BlatnerKeymaster@anishbala: One of the terrible truths about epub is that just because you want your page to appear in a particular way doesn't mean you can achieve it. I don't think epub supports columns at this time. That's one of the many (many!) things people are looking forward to in epub3.
David BlatnerKeymasterI don't know of any workaround. The minimum requirements are pretty clear: 1024 x 768. See this page at Adobe: https://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/k…..01125.html
There's no way to food the laptop into a higher res mode, then install, then set it back again? I have to say that even if you did, you'd have trouble because some of the menus and perhaps even dialog boxes would get cut off.
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure what your question is. Yes, you can use Hunspell dictionaries in InDesign CS5.5:
https://creativepro.com/ind…..ounced.php
You can add them in the Dictionaries pane of the Preferences dialog box.
David BlatnerKeymasterOr you could just use a nested style. That's probably easier. Just say “up to (or through) the first colon.” (You can replace the word “characters” in the nested style with a colon (or any character).
David BlatnerKeymasterDoes this help?

David BlatnerKeymasterSuppress Page Range means “don't put a page number in the index.” Sounds like you want Current Page. You'll likely need to go through and change each of the index references (double-click them in the index panel to edit them).
David BlatnerKeymasterHere you go:
David BlatnerKeymaster@sue: Yes, that was a rather obscure reference, wasn't it? It meant this blog post:
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can use a positive left indent and a negative left indent… or, if you want the subsequent lines to line up exactly at the end of the word, put a command-backslash (type > insert special character > other > indent to here) character.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think this might be something that was fixed in CS4. I am using CS5 and it works okay (both if I use a library item and if I save the object as a snippet). Many people are using snippets instead of libraries now.
David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you choose File > Document Setup, is Facing Pages turned on? If so, there should not be any bleed in the middle, at the gutter/spine. That is odd. Unless you physically have objects crossing from one side of the page to the other on a spread.
