David BlatnerKeymasterAre you placing a Word document? RTF? Is it Hebrew or Arabic? After you import it, and place the cursor in the text, do you see a + symbol in the Paragraph Styles panel, next to the style? Is there a style applied to it in the Character Styles panel?
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure if this will help, but it might be relevant: https://creativepro.com/creating-two-or-more-automatic-text-flows.php

David BlatnerKeymasterWow. Very strange. Not sure what could be going on there. Have you tried doing this on someone else’s computer with CC?

David BlatnerKeymasterIt worked in Typical, but disappeared in High Quality? That is weird.
You might consider rebuilding your InDesign preferences (see Resources > InDesign FAQ in nav bar above if you don’t know how). If have seen situations where people have upgraded to CC and weird stuff happens, but which gets fixed on prefs rebuild.February 25, 2015 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Illustrator art not previewing in InDesign CC but does in CS6 #73522
David BlatnerKeymasterCheck Import Options (in the place dialog box). Maybe something is set up wrong in there? Wrong bounding box, for example?
David BlatnerKeymasterThe Kindle gen plug-in was from Amazon, not Adobe. I believe Adobe has reached out to Amazon in the past to try to encourage some progress on that, but it doesn’t appear to be a high priority for Amazon, sadly.

David BlatnerKeymasterHm. It still works okay in my system.
Not sure what it could be. The x-ref should not take up more space than necessary.
Thank you for your kind words about our work here earlier!

David BlatnerKeymasterThis does seem to be a mystery. I just made an x-ref to a page inside a table and it seems to work just fine. No problem with overset. Weird!

David BlatnerKeymasterThe thing to look for is the Format pop-up menu in the cross-references dialog box. Choose “Page Numbe” then click that little pencil icon and remove the part of the format that says “Page “… then you’ll get just the number itself.

David BlatnerKeymasterSorry it wasn’t resolved. The forums are like the wild west… sometimes people have answers and sometimes they don’t even see them when you first post them.
My question to you is… why are you doing this as a table?! And why use x-refs? Why not just use the Table of Contents feature?
David BlatnerKeymasterBut you do not need to unlock ANY text frames when placing a Word file! Just place then shift-click on the first page. Please see Sandee Cohen’s “101” article in issue 59: https://creativepro.com/issues/issue-59-grip-grep

David BlatnerKeymasterFrom my perspective, it all comes down to support and maintenance. The PC is fine for people who have an IT department to fix problems and answer questions (get rid of viruses and malware, etc). But I just don’t have the time for that anymore. (But some people love doing that kind of troubleshooting! Nothing wrong with that.)
