David BlatnerKeymasterMaybe you are using a font that does not have numbers? Change the font? Or perhaps you have turned on some opentype feature (such as fractions) that is changing all the numbers into a fraction or some other character.
David BlatnerKeymasterNo. There is an align to/away from spine, but the indents are just left and right.
Hm. Can’t think of a good way to do this. Maybe with text wrap?
David BlatnerKeymasterWhy not just set the body text to have really big left/right indents and leave the headline indents to zero?

David BlatnerKeymasterGreat question. I don’t know of a KBSC that will do that. But you can always double-click (with the Selection tool).
David BlatnerKeymasterThis is an interesting problem! I wonder if something changed so that it no longer works the way it used to?
I just discovered that the EPUB zip/unzip applescripts do work. You just need to change the “.idml” extension to “.epub” — or, after turning a folder into an epub, change the file extension from .epub to .idml.
We discussed those applescripts here:
https://creativepro.com/unzip-and-zip-epub-files-safely-with-these-applescripts.php
but it looks like the newest version of the applescripts are here:

David BlatnerKeymasterSorry, but I can’t think of anything. If it doesn’t change when you are logged in as a different user, or after deleting preferences, then something has gone very, very wrong. You may have to reinstall InDesign. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling from the Creative Cloud app?
David BlatnerKeymasterThank you for your kind words! Glad it’s helpful for you. Happy InDesigning!
David BlatnerKeymasterRules are meant to be broken. If the text looks better with a tighter letterspace, then go for it. However, I usually do not use tracking to do this for an entire paragraph or story. Instead, I adjust the Justification settings:
https://creativepro.com/adjust-word-spacing-in-paragraph-styles.php
and
https://creativepro.com/what-are-your-favorite-word-and-character-space-settings-for-hjs.phpIf it is just some text inside a paragraph (a word or phrase), then applying a character style that changes tracking is the way to go.
Great that you’re exploring this!
David BlatnerKeymasterPut the text frames on the master page.

David BlatnerKeymasterThis is the only method I know of: https://creativepro.com/data-merging-individual-records-separate-pdfs.php
David BlatnerKeymasterYou have it at 10% in AI? Or 100%? If it is 10%, then of course it will look different.
This could depend on many different things, including the color swatch you have applied in each program, or the color mode of the two documents, or the print settings.
David BlatnerKeymasterI wouldn’t trust copying and pasting to save too much. It’s really just for saving simple vector shapes that you’re going to further edit in InDesign.
But placing a PDF or AI file should work just fine! Try saving from Illustrator as a .ai file and placing that into a new document in InDesign. Does the spot color appear in the Swatches panel? If not, it’s possible that it’s not actually a spot color in AI and just looks like one.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou could select both frames and choose Object > Pathfinder > Add. That makes them a compound path, so they’re technically a single frame.
David BlatnerKeymasterKatie, I wonder if perhaps something got corrupted/messed up in your file itself. You might consider exporting as IDML and then opening that IDML file. That rebuilds the file and often cleans up oddities. Glad you found a temporary solution though!
David BlatnerKeymasterSounds like you may want to turn off Allow Document Pages to Shuffle in the pages panel menu?
