David BlatnerKeymasterWell, grep styles can’t change a comma into an em dash. I think it’s probably better just to search for the comma and replace it with the space-em-dash-space (using Find/Change). The tricky part is to find just the commas you want to change, of course. Are they always after (GIS) or always after a parenthesis or something?
David BlatnerKeymasterI’ve watched some of it, and it’s good!
David BlatnerKeymasterThere are a number of companies that offer tools for doing translations in InDesign documents. For example, https://mediatrad.com, https://www.1io.com, or Trados (https://www.sdl.com/cxc/language/) which can read IDML files, I believe.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt is extremely hard to debut problems like this. It’s always good to try:
a) Rebuild your InDesign preference files ( https://creativepro.com/resources/faq )
b) Restart the computer
c) Log in to your computer using a different account (like a guest account or some other account)Often one of those things helps.
As for supporting CS6 or earlier versions of the program: I feel your pain, but one of the whole points of new versions of software is that it keeps up with changes in operating systems, right? Adobe can’t go back and make CS5 and CS4 and CS and InDesign 2 and so on keep working in El Capitan. It just isn’t feasible.
David BlatnerKeymasterLOL! No, we hear you! You just don’t hear us responding with “Huh? I wonder what could be wrong.”
Thank you for following up and letting us know you found the answer!
David BlatnerKeymasterWow, I had no idea you were doing that course. That’s awesome, Keith!!

David BlatnerKeymasterI tried it with 27 and it worked for me. Are you absolutely sure the file names are correct? It would be strange for InDesign to get that wrong, though I’m sure it’s possible there’s a bug.

David BlatnerKeymasterChoose File > Place, set up the dialog box to show in alpha order, then click the first one, then shift-click the last one in the list. Then click the OK button. All the images will be loaded into the place cursor. Now start dragging. While you are dragging (mouse button held down), press the up arrow key on the keyboard a few times and the right arrow key on the keyboard a few times. That creates a grid. Keep pressing the arrow key until you have enough frames for all the images. When you let go of the mouse button, the frames get filled in. It should be alphabetical by file name.
It takes some practice to get right, but it’s worth it!
David BlatnerKeymasterHey, great tip! Thanks for coming back and letting us know, Paul.
David BlatnerKeymasterRebuild preferences?
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, that is possible. If the font size is 13.201, then find/change will not find it if you look for 13.2. Unfortunately there is no easy way around this.
David BlatnerKeymasterFor those reading this thread who don’t know about Chartwell, you can read more about it here:

and

David BlatnerKeymasterYes, it’s just an opentype font, so it definitely works in all versions of InDesign.
