David BlatnerKeymasterDang, you’re correct that a single wildcard character can be used inside a positive lookahead. I stand corrected. (Well, sit corrected, technically.)
However, I just tested a positive lookbehind that looks for something in a previous frame and it worked fine.
David BlatnerKeymasterI wasn’t clear in my answer. When I said “specific set of characters” I meant that positive lookahead has to look for characters that you specify. So, for example, you cannot use expressions such as
a?cinside a positive lookahead because it’s not specific… it uses a wildcard. So it works when you look for a specific character, but not with an expression such as “one or more characters”
David BlatnerKeymasterAw shucks, thanks, Kris! Glad to be of help.
I’m thinking that perhaps the Layout > Table of Contents feature might actually work better for you, if you already have paragraph styles applied to each company. You can turn on the Alphabetical checkbox to have the TOC show up in alphabetical order instead of chronological.
David BlatnerKeymasterKris, I’m not sure… you might need to contact the folks at Indiscripts directly. Or you may need to apply a character style to the names? (I don’t recall how it works with paragraph styles.)
I’m hoping those names and phone numbers in your example above are fake. If not, let me know and I will edit them for privacy reasons.
David BlatnerKeymasterWas she talking about “fixed layout epubs” (FXL)? That is very different than reflowable epubs.
David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t think positive lookahead can handle that kind of expression. In general, it can only handle looking for a very specific set of characters.
David BlatnerKeymasterEmily, is this the same question as this forum thread: https://creativepro.com/topic/text-flow-issue-lots-of-white-space-at-the-bottom-of-the-page ?
Just checking. Thanks!April 22, 2016 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Kerning & Tracking Default – getting a better starter for ten #84214
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, “Left Justify” means “justify all the lines in the paragraph except the last one.”
“Align Left” means “don’t justify any lines (also known as “ragged right”)
David BlatnerKeymasterBest option of screen shots is to upload them to an image-sharing site like imgur.com and then paste the URL here. Or if there is an IDML or snippet file you want to share, you can put it in dropbox and share the url here.
But is this a Word question or an InDesign question?
Is it one of these?

David BlatnerKeymasterThanks for the kind words!
Take a look in the “Indents and Spacing” pane of the paragraph styles dialog box. The first option is “Align” and you probably want “Left Justify” rather than “Full Justify.”
I agree that it’s hard to have so many options, though that’s also what makes the tool so powerful. :-)
Good luck!
David BlatnerKeymasterThe only way to post images here, currently, is to post them on another site (such as imgur.com) and then paste the URL here.
That’s really weird. I hate to use the “reinstall” word, but it might come to that. But before you do that, I recommend logging into your computer on a different account (such as a Guest account) and running InDesign there to see if the problem goes away. If it does, it might be something else on your system.
David BlatnerKeymasterActually Edit > Convert to Profile does NOT change any image data. That just changes data inside the InDesign document (such as Swatches).
In general, though, if you place one sRGB image one Adobe RGB image, and then export to a PDF/X-1a, they’ll both be converted to CMYK properly. Nothing wrong with the photographer using Adobe RGB.
I would suggest changing the Destination Profile (in the export pdf dialog box) from SWOP to Gracol or Fogra39 (or fogra29 if it’s uncoated). That’ll likely be a better CMYK conversion.
I explain InDesign’s color management (including working with photoshop and illustrator) in detail in my Lynda.com title here.
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure if this will help, but: https://creativepro.com/free-script-to-change-all-numbers-in-a-document-using-math.php
David BlatnerKeymasterWe have a Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. Sorry to be late to cleanup… I was out all last week. Fixed. (Jongware, would love to connect with you via email if you have a moment. Thanks for catching this!)
