October 25, 2016 at 6:24 am in reply to: Mapping MS Word styles to InDesign styles in style groups #89307
David BlatnerKeymasterThis problem with mapping styles inside groups is one of my biggest complaints about InDesign. It is soooooooo frustrating!!
David BlatnerKeymasterIs the book panel just moving behind the application frame? Does it change if you have View > Application Frame on or off?
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s a fascinating question! I don’t know of any way to do that “built-in” but I wonder if you change the language to Italian if it changes that?
https://creativepro.com/change-ui-language-indesign-cs6-cc.phpThe only other way I can think of is to create a custom font (using any font tool, such as IndyFont or Fontlab or something) that skips those letters. For example, if there is no “J” and “K” then you’d put the “M” in the place of the “J” and so on.
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure what the problem could be, but the “look” of the hyperlink is typically handled by a character style (in the Character Styles panel), not just the fact that it’s a hyperlink. Maybe it’s something in there?
David BlatnerKeymasterDo you need to use the Smart Text Reflow feature? If you are just trying to import all the text when you Place it (adding additional pages), then you do not even need a text frame on the master page. I usually do not use text frames on the master page. Instead, hold down the Shift key when you click (with the place cursor). That will add additional pages.
However, because you want text only on one side of the spread, you do need to add a blank frame on the master page. Then shift click on top of that frame on the document page.

David BlatnerKeymasterNever seen that. When they edit the paragraph styles the Format changes to numbers? Very odd.
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Masood,
Maybe try one of these?

David BlatnerKeymasterI’m assuming you’re not using paragraph and character styles? That would help a lot in this situation.
You could also use the Find/Change dialog box to change those, no? (Not saying a script isn’t a good idea, but…)
David BlatnerKeymasterSo glad we can help! Remember, too, that you can click More Options in there.
That way you can:
* Turn on Sort Entries in Alpha order
* Turn on “Run-in” so that you get just one paragraph instead of a list
* Set Page Number to “No Page Number” so that it leaves that outOctober 18, 2016 at 8:28 am in reply to: Comparing two InDesign CS6 files and insert post translation content? #89103

David BlatnerKeymasterWe can’t accept uploads on this forum at this time, but perhaps you can put them on imgur or some other image hosting site? Or dropbox?
David BlatnerKeymasterYup, that is what the Layout > Table of Contents feature is for!
https://creativepro.com/indesign-tip-multiple-tables-of-contents-in-one-document.php
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s a great solution. I like it! Can you include a link here to an example?
David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you say Next Style doesn’t work, do you mean that if you place your cursor at the end of the paragraph and you press Return/Enter, then nothing happens?
You are correct in creating more than one style. Lists usually need 2 or 3 different paragraph styles.
You can add an “end nested style” invisible character at the beginning (or wherever) of the lists that you don’t want that bold style.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat is very, very odd. Does it work if you try limiting the number of records (in the Generate Merge dialog box) to just 50 or so? Is the template text frame on the master page or the document page?
