David BlatnerKeymasterMark, I’m not sure what you mean… it sounds like there is something wrong there.
Does this article help: https://creativepro.com/reigning-in-rogue-leading.phpOr maybe you need to rebuild your preferences to make InDesign act properly?

David BlatnerKeymasterKelly wrote up the TOC technique here… wonderful!

David BlatnerKeymasterNo, checkboxes cannot hide/show objects. Only buttons can do that. But you might be able to do it with a combination of buttons that look like checkboxes.

David BlatnerKeymasterEveryone works in InDesign differently. Your way is not bad or wrong. I like using numbers instead. For example, I would set the Reference Point in the Control panel to the upper-left corner and then set the Y field to the same as the X field. Then I would stretch the bottom of the frame to the very bottom of the page (where it snaps), and finally I would place my cursor in the H field and subtract the value that I see in the X or Y field

But there are other ways to do it, too! :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterYou said you were using InDesign Server… which is a headless version of InDesign that is run entirely using scripts. Is that the case? Are you working with a reputable InDesign Server integrator/coder who can build this system for you?
Or maybe I misunderstand and you’re using the normal version of InDesign (which has a user interface… you know, what we all use).
Either way, if the books are 128 pages, that’s only 165 documents in 20,000 pages, so I think a book file can probably handle that.

David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t know what the maximum number of publications in a book file is.
(You can find some other interesting limits here: https://creativepro.com/infinity-in-indesign.php )But I wonder, if you’re doing this with InDesign Server, why you need to make a book file. You can control all the aspects of the documents you would normally do with a book (page numbering, colors, etc) with Server and scripts, without making a book file.

David BlatnerKeymasterI think I would probably use automatic paragraph numbering on the paragraphs, and then use Type > Bullets & Numbering > Convert Numbered List to Text. Then apply a bullet character that looks like a checkbox.
David BlatnerKeymasterKBSC = “keyboard shortcut” :-)
Yes, all plug-ins (and some scripts) require updating when you update the software. It’s one reason I always recommend people NOT upgrade immediately, even though Adobe makes it so easy to do so.
I’m not a scripter, so I can’t help you with that. Keith Gilbert did a great course on Lynda.com (which perhaps you’ve seen).
You can assign shortcuts (KBSC) to scripts in the Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box.
David BlatnerKeymasterI wonder if MultiFindChange from Automatication.com would help? Not sure…
You could certainly create a script that does the find/change and then assign a KBSC to the script.
David BlatnerKeymasterIf you’re trying to connect InDesign with assets that are “in the cloud” (not on local hard drives) then you’ll likely need something like Connector from Silicon Publishing: https://www.siliconpublishing.com/products/products_connector.html
But even then I don’t think the InDesign files themselves are in the cloud. Those are saved locally, I believe.
We use dropbox for sharing InDesign files.
David BlatnerKeymasterMaybe you need to turn on View > Display Performance > High Quality Display?
David BlatnerKeymasterIt looks like the one on the left is a vector PDF. That means it will always be very sharp. If you rasterize it in Photoshop it will be pixels, which will be fuzzy.
