David BlatnerKeymasterInDesign does not currently import HTML. There is some discussion of this here: https://creativepro.com/issues/issue-55-html-indesign
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m so glad that worked for you!
Honestly, I have never heard of a file being deleted or disappearing after a crash like that.Book files showing up blank can happen… because book files (.indb) files are not normally saved until you close them, quit InDesign, or specially choose to save them:
https://creativepro.com/save-all-open-documents.php
So if you crash, then later open the book panel, it is often blank (or out of date).
David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t know how InDesign could delete a file, even in a crash. That is very strange. Seems like the file must be somewhere. (Though maybe search your Trash.) Also, it’s possible that the file became invisible. (Mac and Windows OS allows for invisible files.) But of course, maybe it really is gone, which would be horrible and sad. I love using the Crashplan software because it backs up files as I work so they can be recovered. Or, if the file was in a dropbox folder, the dropbox also backs up multiple versions that you can download from their website (even after it is deleted).
David BlatnerKeymasterI love the paragraph rules trick, Kai! Add a white rule below to a colored rule above and you can make an “empty” circle:

:-)
David BlatnerKeymasterThere are many tricks, but honestly the easiest and best is just to find a font that has numbers in circles. If you search for “font with numbers in circles” you’ll find a bunch. :-)

David BlatnerKeymasterI have never tried, that and I’m not sure if it’s possible. My first guess is that you probably need to rebuild the x-refs.
A number of people who say they do documents with a LOT of cross-references say that “Cross References Pro” from DTPTools.com is far better than the feature built-in to InDesign. Have you seen it?
David BlatnerKeymasterDavid: I’m assuming you mean Anne-Marie’s videos? She is out on holiday at the moment. But are you talking about building these epubs from scratch, or with InDesign? I think InDesign always adds classes; that might be what she was saying.
David BlatnerKeymasterThese ideas might help:

David BlatnerKeymasterAlso, when the CODE html tag does not work, you can use PRE (I think PRE is often better, actually).
David BlatnerKeymasterI wonder if Nigel (who recorded that video) was using an A4 size page instead of a Letter size page? Or is he using Letter and you’re using A4?
David BlatnerKeymasterInDesign has a feature called Data Merge, and you can find many articles about it here:
https://creativepro.com/tag/data-mergeHowever, Data Merge is for relatively simple data publishing. It has limitations. For example, you cannot use it with multiple paragraphs of text.
Here is more information about publishing data using a third-party plug-in or service:
David BlatnerKeymasterI suppose it’s possible. But I’m guessing it might be something else. Try rebuilding your preferences. Here’s more ideas:
