David BlatnerKeymasterIt is not easy to do, but it is technically possibly. You have to use hide/show buttons.

David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you say “Bitmap” do you mean a bitmapped image? File > Export lets you create a PNG or JPEG.
Or do you mean “1-bit black-and-white Bitmap image” (like the Bitmap mode in Photoshop)? I do not know any way to do that.
David BlatnerKeymasterThe findchangebylist script can help a lot, though you should fix it like this:

David BlatnerKeymasterI know this sounds like something that should be straightforward, but it’s actually not possible for a good reason:
The tab character is not just “a space”, right? The text after the tab character is positioned at a specific place horizontally. So centering the text really messes up InDesign’s idea of where everything should go. So it punts. Most people who do this actually want some specific amount of space between two columns, and then they want that whole thing centered. It’s a variation of this problem:
https://creativepro.com/setting-poetry-flush-left-center-on-longest-line.phpOne way you might approach it is to create a line and add it as an inline object between the two columns. Now make the line stroke set to “None” so it pushes the lines apart but you can’t see it.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt’s extremely rare that I would make a logo or anything with solid colors in Illustrator as RGB. I’m not sure what you mean by AI defaults to RGB. You can set the color space of the Illustrator doc when you create it.
The only AI documents I would make in RGB are “fine art” — like something photorealistic or with lots of gradients and stuff. For logos or icons or basic graphics, make them in CMYK in Illustrator. Then they’ll match the CMYK colors in InDesign.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can just set the background fill of the text frame… yes?
David BlatnerKeymasterAh… yes, Rule Below would not work. That’s why I suggested Rule Above. It’s in the same dialog box. It won’t move when you have a multi-line paragraph. :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m curious why you don’t want to apply an underline character and then change the width (with a character style)?
Another option could be to apply a Rule Above, and set the Left Offset of the rule to be a negative number (if you want it to stick outside the text frame) and a huge Right Offset, so that it ends up being just a short line to the left of the paragraph.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can do this with the Inset Spacing feature (in Object > Text Frame Options), or in the object style. But it only works for text frames.
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m sorry to report that InDesign doesn’t allow custom strokes, so… no… no place to download them.
But there are some options, such as:
