David BlatnerKeymasterMight be better handled by an index instead of a table of contents.
David BlatnerKeymasterSeems like this falls into the same category as people using Keynote or PowerPoint to lay out pages. Crazy, but it happens a lot.
David BlatnerKeymasterIn my opinion, using InDesign and Illustrator just for social media posts is really overkill, like using a high-end professional table saw when a hand saw from the hardware store will do. It’ll work! But it will require significant training and work to make something that other tools could probably throw together quickly.
What is it that you want that Spark Post doesn’t do?
Have you looked at Canva? Seems like there are many of these kinds of tools out there now: https://sociallysorted.com.au/best-canva-alternatives/
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, it’s always going to be better to convert an INDD file to EPUB — or even an Word doc! — than PDF.

David BlatnerKeymasterThere might be some helpful info here:

David BlatnerKeymasterI’ve published a couple of books through Amazon, and they do make it very easy. If you want a print book in the US, you’ll need to buy a ISBN number (from myidentifiers.com). Kindle books don’t need them.
Are you looking to do a print book or a Kindle ebook?
You can find a ton of information here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/
David BlatnerKeymasterThe Hebrew version of InDesign can control paragraph and text direction. You can do that in older versions, too, with WorldTools from in-tools.com
David BlatnerKeymasterIt might be easier to apply No Break to the whole thing, and then use a GREP Style to apply a character style that turns OFF no break for the space-bullet-space.
To do that, make a character style that has the No Break checkbox blank. If there’s a checkmark in it, it means “on”; if there’s a dash in it, it means “leave it alone.” But if the checkbox is blank, it means “turn it off.”
The grep style could be
~8(that means space followed by a bullet followed by a space)The alternating colors is trickier. Hm…
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, sorry about that… it’s disappeared. Frustrating. I’m working with LinkedIn Learning/Lynda to do a new version!
We do have a new ebook on GREP here, by Peter Kahrel:
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Raimund, the download is from Fastspring (our ecommerce provider). There should be a link in the email that they sent you that lets you re-download (it may be time-limited). Otherwise, please contact our support at support@indesignsecrets.com
thanks!
David BlatnerKeymasterNever seen that before! Ouch… is it possible to upgrade to CC 2019?
David BlatnerKeymasterWell, adding or removing layers in the program can cause issues. I wonder if it has to do with something like what Sandee described in the section “The Riddle of the Bounding Box” here:

David BlatnerKeymasterI miss the butterfly… but it was time to move on… here’s the explanation:
