MemberKarin, on your example, it simply looks like the photos are overlapping the text frames. Select those frames, then Object->Arrange->Bring to Front. If you want two objects to align next to each other, Align->Distribute Spacing->0. Also, Smart Guides are helpful to get objects to align by snapping them together. View-> Grids & Guides-> Smart Guides

MemberPantone does make Process Color swatch books, but I would suggest making your own Swatch sheet to see what CMYK look like at 100% and 10% screened steps. If you do this daily, or once a week, you might see how much your printer varies in output.
Digital printing ink or toner does to tend to be magenta-strong, so for faces, I often bring down Magenta in Photoshop Curves. (It’s possible your printer does this too)

MemberCan you post an image of what’s happening? Make sure you’re using the Align flyout menu to choose Align to Selection, Page, etc. Check the x,y attributes to make sure the frames ling up. If those are right, it could be screen rendering. Have you printed a page out to see if they are misaligned there?
Also, try Export as an IDML to clean up your file, and try again.

MemberRobert, if you want to post a packaged file, I could do some Sherlocking on it.
With black, you may have to control is using Attributes->Overprint:

MemberRobert, unfortunately there is no standard; too many variables. Personally, I prefer EPS format over AI. Too many things can go wrong with AI files. Also, I recommend building images in Illustrator instead of stacking in InDesign. If it’s easier to build it in InDesign, I often export as PDF, then Place as one piece back into InDesign.
Spot colors and transparencies do not work together. In Illustrator, Object->Flatten Transparency. InDesign, use Separations Preview to ensure everything is Process build. Export PDF: x/1a:2001, uncheck Optimize for Web View, No Compression, Output -> Convert Color to US Web Coated (SWOP) v2
When the mystery can’t be solved, we Export as JPEG (300 dpi), or rasterize the PDF at 300 dpi in PhotoShop.

MemberMake sure you are updating the .ai file using the Links palette instead of using Place.
Also, Preferences->File Handling->check Preserve Image Dimensions When RelinkingThis is probably not related, but If you have Layers in your .ai file, click Show Import Options to make sure the Layers you want are showing.

MemberSome ideas:
• Do you have any repeating artwork that could be in a Master Page?
• Print->Printer->PDF/Save to Postscript, Drag into Distiller with same settingsBesides these and David’s suggestions, you could export ~6 pages separately to troubleshoot where the culprit is.
Good Luck!

MemberMegan,
It’s hard to say without seeing your file or the PDF settings, here are a few things:
InDesign:
1. Swatches->Add Unnamed Colors (confirm there aren’t hidden colors) (Are there spot colors in the rest of the document?)
2. Window->Output->Separations Preview (uncheck black to confirm no other colors)
3. Make sure Black is chosen in your Effects (drop shadow, etc)Acrobat:
1. Output->Color Conversion->change to No Color Conversion
2. Try a different Compatibility, i.e Acrobat 8/9, or PDF x/1a:2001…and of course, export to IDML!
Worth a shot, anyway.

MemberThis problem was addressed here back in 2013, with no solution either, except converting Numbering to Text.

MemberBruce, I can sympathize. I just spent some time recently trying to understand Table/Cell Styles also.
It ended up that I only used the Table Style for the outer border of the entire table, and left the rest to Cell Styles.
The best method I found was to create Paragraph Styles and attach them to the Cell Styles, so that when I select a set of cells, both the Cell Style and Paragraph Style would apply.
It’s really important for [None] to be selected anytime the Cell Style should take on the Table Style. (or delete a point size so it appears blank).
Not sure if I help much, but you’re not alone….

Member1. Type->Hidden Characters – see if something is revealed here
2. Select that sentence and Deselect: Character->No Break
3. Is there any artwork on another layer that could have a Text Wrap?
4. Copy the text into Notepad, Save as Plain Text, Place to see if that still causes the error.Good Luck….

MemberI tried to recreate this; the only way I see it done in one text box is by interlacing the letters and adjusting Tracking and Baseline Shift in Styles, and also manually where needed. Basically it’s a pain to set it all in one text box. There are ways to make the stacking process easier if you’re doing this several times. Just give us an idea of what this is for.

MemberI should mention that there are only 14 routes, so the data is fairly manageable, but I am thinking of the future….
