ParticipantHey Meghan,
That’s always tough to sift through someone elses styles. One thing that might help is the StyLighter script from Indescripts. It allows you to highlight text based on the styles so you can scroll through and see if anything is being affected by that style.

Note: the colors you select might not be the one you see, I think its a bug or InDesign versions do play nicely with it, so play around with it if you end up trying it. I find it a very handy script to have in my scripts folder for times like this.

ParticipantWhat this sounds like is one of your paragraph styles is based on another paragraph style, so when you update one, it is affecting the other. Open your paragraph styles and under General you will see “Based On:” change that to “[No Paragraph Style]”, you may have to adjust it after you do this but once you have it set, no other paragraph styles will affect it.

ParticipantNo problem Tim. It can be quite the learning curve, especially while trying to learn InDesign on top of it all.

ParticipantHey tim,
So with the Cross-References going to the wrong page, I can tell you that the reason they are taking you to the next page is that I’m guessing your page marker/anchor is at the bottom of the page, it is being very literal and taking you to the bottom of the page (where your anchor is), which, if you think about it, is the top of the next page. To correct this you will need to place your page anchors at the top of the page so that when you click on a reference it takes you to the top of the correct page.
As far as Endnotes go, I can’t say that I have been a big fan of InDesign’s Endnote feature (which I am assuming you are using?) for epub export. I personally import static endnotes (which you can specify when you import your doc) and do the cross referencing via GREP in the HTML post export. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and it probably doesn’t help with what you are asking, I wish I had a work around for the issue you are having.

ParticipantWow, if you are going to take the time to code your animations with HTML5 (or any animation with JS/CSS3/HTML5), it might be cleaner—and possibly less of a headache in the long run—to do it after export in the HTML. If you are placing it in InDesign then exporting, it’s going to be running through InDesign’s exporter and, well, you dont know exactly how it’s processing your code, so it’s just one more thing that _might_ cause something to break. I’m not saying it will, you would need to test it(!) to see.

ParticipantHey Heidi,
I have the Intuos 4 and I’ve been using for years with InDesign and honestly dont have very much set up. I have the two top Express Keys set up to do Next Spread and Previous Spread, which I use a lot, the next two down I have set to move my Spaces on my Mac, but cant say I use them very often (when Im not in InDesign, these are my default top two Express Keys). I also have the pen buttons set to Right Click and Double Click (Not sure if thats default or not). And that’s really it, I dont really use anything else. Anyway, I would say set up a few things, see how much you either use or dont use them as well as how comfortable you are with using them.
I’ve also gotten to where I use an Apple Magic Trackpad with my left hand. The reason being is that im not a fan of scrolling with the little touch scroll wheel on the Wacom itself (the Intuos 4 doesnt have the touch surface that the newer ones have). I find it a little out of the way and too small, so scrolling feels like it takes forever.
Anyway, I’m not sure if that helps, but I’m glad to see someone else using a Wacom with InDesign :) I’d love to hear what you come up with as far as customizing the Express Keys.

ParticipantJulie,
No problem, I hope it works how you are wanting it to :)

ParticipantJust searching the IndesignSecrets articles and thought this one might be helpful as well

Participantthis might be a shot in the dark, but have you tried using Cross-Referencing? I’m not sure how it would work with an image, but you could probably cross reference the figure number and use the page number from that. Im not sure if it would work and if it would it might take some playing with to figure it out, but it might be worth a try.

ParticipantAn easy way to do it is to duplicate your paragraph style with the numbering list option and set the numbering to start at 1. then only use that paragraph style when you want the list to start on 1 and the other paragraph style for the rest of the list.

ParticipantInteresting. I would really be interested in knowing if there is a fix for this too. I dont deal with a lot of Hebrew in text but I do from time to time. I hope someone has a solution.
Aaron Troia
ParticipantHey Richard,
You are actually pretty close, just need to add a modifier to make the expression more greedy. You could try something like this, which should find all of your examples.

ParticipantStan,
Since you said there are always 11 before the numbers in the address, I think we can work from there without slecting the whole line, try this,
Find:
(\d{11})(\d+)(?=[A-Z])
Change:$1 $2This is finding and grouping exactly 11 digits
(\d{11})that have a space before, then grouping any digits that follow those 11 digits(\d+)and to be sure we have a lookahead assertion (which is zero length group so we dont need to add a $3 group) to make sure there is a letter from A-Z(?=[A-Z]).Make sure you make a copy of your file before you test this, or run it on a few and see how it goes. I would hate for it to need a little more tweaking before it was right for what you need and mess up any content.

ParticipantHey Marcos,
I believe I have seen what you are talking about, I don’t deal with it everyday but it pops up occasionally, even on printed material. You are correct that it has to do with the transparency (I believe if you open Flattener Preview under Output and select either Transparent Objects or All Affected Objects, the PNGs should show up in red). Off the top of my head I don’t know a simple solution besides converting to a flattened file like JPG (have you tried PSD? I’m not sure that will fix anything as the images will still have transparency) so that might not really be a solution since you have a background image.
Aaron Troia
ParticipantUsing the GREP Find/Change window, try
Find:
(\(\d+)
Change:$1 -
