Why don't the page up or page down keys go to the next page in a document and center it? If you have a multi page document and your centered on the page 1 for example why when you hit the page down key on the keyboard dose it go to page 2 and not center on it. It seems like it goes to the next page but it dosnt go far enough so then your looking at the top half of the next page. If you hit page down again it goes to the next page but you see the bottom half of page two and the top half of page 3.

This has been driving nuts for years. Everytime there is a new version of indesign or a software update I have my fingers crossed that they will have fixed this issue. Still no fix, so I though I would try to find out if there is a way to change a setting so that page up and page down would auto center on a page. I did a search but didnt come up with a solution or even mention of this issue.

Try holding down opt (Mac) or alt (Win) key in combination with Pageup/Pagedown

Works like a champ! Thank you. I swear I have tried that before.

Why would adobe do this? Why not just make it work correctly when using page up or page down?

I can't think of any program that uses just page up/down to move from one page to the next — not even Word or QX. Those keys are really more like “screen up” or “screen down.” The modifiers change them to work by page or spread.

It's easy to change the behavior to what you'd expect, though. “Next Page” & “Previous Page” can be found somewhere in the Keyboard Shortcut Editor.

(I'd tell you in what section, if I only could remember it — it was somewhere unexpected, I know that. Use the “Show Set” command to get a list of all commands, then search in there.)

It's in the Layout Menu section in the Keyboard Shortcut Editor.

Which is when you come to think about it rahter odd right? It does write Page Up/Page Down.

Guess it shows how people using computers for a longer time adapt and tend to forget some illogical things in using them.

Shift key + Pageup/Pagedown also work
