Unable to launch inDesign in Monterey

TLDR: Just upgraded to Monterey and InDesign won’t launch.

Yesterday I upgraded my OS to Monterey. Launching the latest InDesign app just hangs on launch. I have installed the 2021 version as well but nope. All my other Adobe apps, old and new, all launch fine, but not InDesign. I realise I’m super late to the Monterey party. Does anyone have any tips?

      iMac 2019. Intel.
I have uninstalled the apps using the uninstaller, and using CleanMyMac. I have launched with Shift+option+command whatever to reset preferences but there’s no change the blazed app just won’t launch. And I’ve rebooted more times that I thought I could.

Any help, even a brick, most appreciated.

What does your console report when you open InDesign?
Have you turned off your typefaces/fonts?
Can you try and install a different language version of InDesign?

There’s no error report. InDes just bounces for about 5 mins then stops. The Activity monitor shows hardly any activity.
I don’t have any fonts active or font apps open (I use Font Explore X Pro to manage my fonts.
How do I get a different language version if InDes? I haven’t seen that option listed in the Creative Cloud Installer.

I meant check out the Console, it will report what’s going on: https://support.apple.com/guide/console/welcome/mac
Use this to turn off other fonts: https://fontmenucleaner.com
and this to get a different language: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/change-install-language.html

Sorry your reply got stuck in moderation, Steve. I think our site is set up to moderate any post with 2 or more links in it, as it looks suspicious. :-)

Caspian: When you’re rebuilding the preferences, are you actually seeing the dialog box show up that asks if you want to reset the prefs? Or do you not even see that? I want to be sure that prefs really are being reset. More info here:

      Thanks for the links Steve.
Console has lots of stuff that is gobbledegook to me.

Just cleaned the fonts but no change.

David, Yes, I get the ‘Delete your preferences’ dialogue box.

I have a suspicion the problem is bigger than InDesign. Considering an erase and assemble everything from scratch.

latest report is a little different

Create a new admin account on your Mac for testing purposes, if you haven’t already.

Switch to the new admin account via Fast User Switching, or log out of your current account then log in to the testing account.

      Start InDesign from that account.

Does it start up fine? Then the problem is somewhere in your original account’s Home > Library folder.
