Hello guys . this is my first post at the forum

So Im trying to create this Bi-Lingual document (Arabic & English) with facing pages: I want the right page to have an Arabic text that threads – automatically, with smart flow – to all right pages of the document, and a counterpart English Text, that does the same to all the left page of the document

I Can’t achieve this so far, when I create two different master pages – one for right pages and one for left – InDesign will still thread to all pages consecutively

Any tips on how to achieve this?

PS: I watched the InDesign Secret episode 125 ” Make two automatically threaded text flows” .. doesn’t seem to exactly help here

      Thank you

I think the only problem here is the Smart Reflow part… I don’t think you can do this with smart reflow. You’d have to manage it manually.

        Thanks David

It’s a shame really that it can’t be done , for a huge document it would a pain to do it manually

Is there away to stitch up two – single page documents – into a facing page one to achieve the effect?

or maybe using shuffle pages ??

Im really trying a find a quick way coz this bi-lingual routine is becoming a major part of my work .. and there is much work already goes in to trying to line up the counter paragraphs in both languages .. can’t really keep doing pages as well manually

        Thank you for your patience

well, I Managed to Find the exact solution .. and it turned it out to be yours David :)

It’s all about NOT Threading the text boxed on the main Master Spread

      here is explanation

Well, I’m glad you found that solution. But it does not do Smart Text Reflow. But maybe you just meant automatic flowing (flowing from one page to the next). Smart Text Reflow is slightly different:

I don’t think that is possible with two threads. But maybe I am wrong! :)
