I am trying to have a rectangle with rounded corners. When I go to object>Corner Options, I type high numbers in an attempt to create round corners that are well defined but it seems that no matter what number I type there, the corners stay at a fixed curvature.

      Would anyone know why?

Can you please post a screenshot showing what you are getting? I’m fairly new, so I might not know the answer, but I recently worked with rounding my corners so I might be able to help.. besides changing the number, are you clicking on the boxes next to each one and choosing the rounded option? I know that seems like a simple question but I’m trying to understand what you’re trying to achieve and what’s happening. I’m sure someone will help if I can’t. I am hoping I can help someone for my first time. :)

What “high numbers” are you inserting?

Just in case: You can not make rounded corners with text boxes. Instead make another box around your text box and adjust the corners on this

As of when, Karsten? I’ve been making rounded corners in text boxes for years.

      Just a misunderstanding! ;-)

      Hello,

      Thank you for each feedback!

@Kaila I’m not sure how to attach a print screen, I can’t see the option to do this as I’m replying but yes, I did click on the box too and it transform the corner into a rounded one, but to a certain extent only, etc

@Bonnie Not sure it’ll be helpful to tell you the exact number. I just keep pushing the up arrow to have higher numbers in the hope it gets more rounded but it stops the “rounding” effect after a while even when I select higher numbers

      @Karsten
I’m trying this with a simple rectangle shape

@Obi-wan Uhmm I see it works fine for you. Can you try with a long rectangle shape to see how far you can make it round?

In order to attach a screen shot, I upload the jpg to imgur (or whatever image hosting site you choose) and copy the link.

If the number is too high in relation to the size of the box, INDD won’t be able to generate the curvature

Here’s another possibility: Sometimes rectangles just look like rectangles, but they actually have more points on them. Try selecting the rectangle with the Direct Selection tool (white arrow), which will show all the points on it. If there are extra points (beyond the four corners), then ID may not be able to give you the rounded corners you want.

That’s true, David. I was writing the same, but now I have to rephrase.

Linda, try this and I hope you’ll be happy to see the results:

      1. Select the Frame, that you would like to have Rounded Corners.
      2. Go to Object Menu > Convert Shape…
      3. and Click ‘Rounded Rectangle’
      4. Once you have the rounded rectangle, try changing the corner radius using the ‘Corner Options’.

Let me know if it helps, else I would like to see the file.
