Am I correct that the reason the TOC doesn’t work as an interactive feature in my “publish online” document is that it was generated using a style (ie Headline) which is a bookmark, and bookmarks are not supported? Or did I do something wrong when I made the publish online file?

If so, is there a way to fix it so the interactive TOC works properly?

I remember the Table of Contents feature wasn’t supported in publish online… I thought they fixed that. Are you using the newest version of CC2015.2? Or maybe it is still broken. (Remember publish online is still a “technology preview,” which basically means it’s still in beta.)

Yes, I’m using CC2015.2. I thought I had missed something in the Publish Online dialog box until I read Diane’s article in the latest InD Magazine — she mentions bookmarks aren’t supported. And I think an interactive TOC is a based on bookmarks.

A quick look at some of her samples and it seems people are using buttons for a TOC — which you can’t do with styles so it makes it unwieldy for a longer pub.
