HI. I’m trying to figure out 2 things that may seem opposed.

#1: When I publish online, the document text is not accessible. Which means, I can’t copy and paste the text to another document and more importantly perhaps, I assume that a person with visual disabilities will not be able to read the text. Is there a way around this? So that the text is not an image but reads like text would on any website or local PDF?
#2: I’m working on some PDFs that are confidential. If we publish online, are there ways for the public to access the information if they don’t have the URL?

      Thanks for your help,
      Marisa

#1: Publish Online is still a “work in progress,” and I agree that they need to do much more for accessibility. In general, the best option would be a reflowable HTML option or using PDF.

#2: There is no security for Publish Online docs. While it’s extremely unlikely that anyone would guess a URL, it may be possible. (I don’t know how much PubOnline docs are crawled by search engines. It’s on Adobe’s servers, so there’s probably no way to stop it fully.) Security is one reason some companies choose to use a commercial product for HTML export, such as in5 from ajarproductions.

      Hi David,

Any news in regards to Publish Online Accessibility? I can’t find information about it anywhere, has Adobe solved the issue?

      Cheers
      Camila
