I am trying to come up with an efficient work flow to convert many pfd books to reflowable epubs.
PDF2ID is working well so far.

But I have a few questions:

      1 Page Size
The converted PDF comes in at 612.12 px x 792 px
Is there any point in changing this to the 764 x 1028 the standard size for the Ipad before exporting to Epub.
Would there be any differences in the look of the EPUB with the different document sizes.

      2. PDF Look
The “instructions” I was given said to make the epub look as close to the PDF as possible.
But is this in fact doable with all the variety of possible ways an epub could be viewed.

      3. From a book design point of view, is it desirable for the epub version to look like the original book design. The PDF’s all come from older DTP programs

      Many thanks

      Jim

      Hi Jim

The key word here is ‘reflowable’. If you do mean that you want the EPUB to be reflowable then the page size is irrelevant as the page is not converted, only the content. And with reflowable probably not all the content and certainly not the page design (no full bleed images, no text over images, no rotations, no transparency) and you will have very little control over the fonts.

If you want to convert any set of print PDFs to searchable fixed layout EPUB3 and a KF8 for Amazon too that exactly looks like the original I recommend you try a free trial of our product CircularFLO from CircularFLO.com

      Thanks

Many thanks, Ken, its most interesting to see the growing acceptance for fixed layout Epubs.
