In my document i use a paragraph style for figure names which numbers each figure so i don’t have to edit them manually later. I also use cross references to refer to the figures in the text. All of that works out well; though i want to be able to create a cross reference that references two figures at the same time. (ex. See Figures 6 and 7). Of course, all of my figure names are prefixed with “Figure #.”.

Is there a way to edit the cross reference to

      1. Add an s to the first “figure” since there will be more than one figure being referenced.
      2. Remove the second “Figure”
      3. and

      4. Remove the period after the first figure number.

I’m thinking it’s not possible with InDesign’s built-in features; but I’ll ask the people who know it best just in case. Also I’m sure there is a script that could be written for this, if it doesn’t already exist, but i have no clue.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

I can try writing a script if it’s possible, but I’m unfamiliar with the Cross-References workflow in InDesign as I never used it. So if you don’t mind to upload to Drive or DropBox a page or two so that I can look into it.
