Layers and buttons in PDF

I have made an interactive PDF form in InDesign, and is having some problems with the nature of layers.

The concept here is a series of signs that can be grey, green or yellow. And the buttons I made for this works just fine. They are all in one layer. On top of this I have made some text fields where the text on the colored signs should always be the same. Only the color of the sign itself changes. The text fields are on a new layer over the “sign” layer.

However… When I show/hide the different “background” signs, they get showed on top of the textfield instead of under it as they should.

Anyone know what to do here?

Usually the trick is to make the text frames buttons, too. The buttons do not have to do anything, but by making them buttons they become “overlays” and do not get covered up as easily.

There are some weird stacking problems, but I don’t think you have that problem. These are talked about here:

The text needs to be editable. Can it still be a button then?

Oh be the Hokey! I just had a very similar thing here.

Interactive buttons working on some pages, and not all.

Working in CC15 – and I’ve fixed it now… what a weird thing.

It was the weird stacking issue :) Fixed it with the tab order thanks a lot mate :)
