I have a document that my predecessor built that is about 300 pages long that contains many tables of part#s and descriptions on each page. Each description table cell is formatted with a Character Style. I would like to change all of these to a Paragraph Style and only use the Character Styles to format individual words or characters.

The tables also contain other cells with different Character Styles that I would like to leave alone. Or at least until I figure this out, and then I would change those cells to their own Paragraph Styles as well.

My question is: Is it possible to bulk change all instances of these table cells with Characters styles into Paragraph Styles? I don’t want to have to go cell by cell through the whole catalog if I don’t have to.

      Thanks all!

I found the answer so I will reply to my own question.

First go to the following link: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/find-change.html

Then go to the section titled “Find and Change Text”. There is a description there on how to do a find/replace that searches all instances of your search parameter, in my case, a Character Style, and then replace those all with a new parameter, in my case, a new Paragraph Style.

      Works like a charm.
