Is it possible to keep INDD formatting, insets, size etc. intact in CC Libraries or are INDD Libraries and Snippets the only thing that does this?

The software is really trying to get me to use CC Libraries when I create an INDD Library—sending the message that it may be discontinued eventually.

I use and love CC Libraries, but if they have to dumb down the text box features to be able to use it in Illustrator and Photoshop, I’d rather use INDD Libraries and/or Snippets.

Rhetorical Alert: Why can’t CC Libraries handle text based on features in the program it was created in? If that asset is used in another program that doesn’t support that feature, it could be discarded and only the text would appear.

Whenever I try placing text from CC Libraries, it’s one giant textframe without any insets, baseline options, etc. For this workflow, I want the text to be as designed. I’m adding text to diagrams as callouts.

Hi Marc, sorry your post got caught in Moderation. I don’t know why. If it happens again, please email us at support@creativepro.com and we’ll try to fix it.

You should be able to put InDesign objects into a CC Library the same as an old InDesign library file. Oh… the trick is to add it as a GRAPHIC! That way you’re not adding it as text or styling, but as editable objects. (Well, they’re editable if you drag it back into InDesign.)

How do you add an INDD text object as a graphic?

Nevermind… I think I figured it out. CTRL + Click on a PC while dragging to the library panel did the trick!
