How to work on single pages + bleeds, as spreads

      I just did a booklet that consists of 32 single 8.5×11 pages with full bleeds, to be printed and bound in the center with wire binding. I want to design it so that the pages read as spreads, thus want to work with left and right pages side by side. I was able to do that by moving the pages next to each other in the pages panel, but that doesn’t allow me to drag out the bleeds at the gutter. I ended up designing it as spreads way, then saving a copy for the printer, separating the spreads into single pages, then dragging out bleeds.

      Is there another way to work with single pages+bleeds in a side by side layout?
